Sarah Gieck is a freelance flutist based in Calgary, Alberta. A regular substitute in the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, she also teaches at the University of Lethbridge and plays principal flute with the Lethbridge Symphony. Sarah has also performed with the Red Deer Symphony and the Calgary based Alberta Winds and Altius Brass Ensembles. Sarah is an active chamber and solo musician, performing in concerts throughout central and southern Alberta. In January, 2009 Sarah was invited to perform in the New Music Festival at the University of Calgary where she performed Robert Aitken's My Song for two flutes alongside the composer himself. In the spring of 2010 Sarah appeared as a guest artist with the Musaeus Sting Quartet in Lethbridge, performing Nocturne and Scherzo by Arthur Foote and the Quartet in D Major by W.A. Mozart. She also received an invitation to perform in the Fort Macleoud International Music Festival hosted by the Empress Theatre in Fort Macleod where she performed in several concerts with internationally recognized artists.
Sarah has eleven years of teaching experience, teaching students of all ages and levels. Her students perform consistently well in RCM Examinations and local competitions and festivals. Sarah has been a music instructor for the Penhold Summer Music Training Program and MusicCamp Alberta at Red Deer College, both programs working with young teens in a band and private lesson setting.This summer Sarah will rejoin the faculty of MusiCamp Alberta for their summer band program at Red Deer College.
Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Calgary, a Master’s Degree from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, and an Artist’s Diploma from the University of Cincinnati. Her primary teachers have included Gwen Klassen, Peter Lloyd and Dr. Bradley Garner. In 2004 Sarah won the Canadian Federation of Music Festivals National Competition, earning a CBC radio 2 broadcast of her winning performance. Sarah has been a prizewinner in several other competitions including the Canadian Music Competition and Central Ohio Flute Association’s Young Artist Competition. In 2009 Sarah participated in the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and enjoyed taking part in their first live web cast concert. Aside from playing the flute Sarah spends her time with friends, family and a very special cat.

Sean Clarke is an active flutist and composer based in Calgary, Alberta. After completing a Bachelor of Music at the University of Calgary Sean went on to complete a Master of Music in performance from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), England with a minor in composition. While there he studied flute with Peter Lloyd and Michael Cox as well as composition with Anthony Gilbert. In Calgary his teachers have included flautist Gwen Klassen and composers David Eagle and Allan Bell. Sean is currently co-principal flute with the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra.
As a performer, Sean has placed in many competitions including the National Music Competition, the Canadian Music Competition National Finals, and the Alberta and Calgary Kiwanis Festivals. He has performed solo with the University of Calgary Orchestra and the Kensington Sinfonia. Sara Hahn began playing the Flute in junior high at the age of 12. She has gone on to study with such well known performance artists as Jan Kocman of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and Susan Hoeppner who is an internationally renown performing/recording solo flutist. Sara has performed as a soloist throughout Canada, the United States and most recently Brazil as a guest of the Campos do Jordao International Winter Festival 2007. In April 2007, she was chosen to perform for the Aber Diamond Debut series on CBC Radio Two.
Sara has performed as a member of many of Canada's finest academic orchestras including the National Academy Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada with whom she completed an extensive three week tour of Japan and Hong Kong in 2003. Sara has performed professionally in the position of Assistant Principal Flute/Piccolo with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and in November of 2005, Sara was chosen to become the new Principal Flutist of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra – a position she has held since the fall of 2006.
Furthermore, Sara has a long list of music awards and trophies, including the University of Toronto concerto competition and the Junior Musical Club Concerto Competition in Winnipeg - which gave her a debut performance as a soloist in front of an orchestra at the age of 17. In 2005, Sara was awarded first prize of $10,000 as the winner of the Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg Doris McLellan Competition for Solo Performance with Orchestra.
Sara has graduated with honours from the University of Toronto receiving and Bachelor in Music Performance degree, and she intends to pursue her dream of a life long career as a flute performer.
